Following the success of the 2021 Data Science Day, the annual Data Science Day will take place again on Thursday 13 October 2022 at Startup Village in Amsterdam Science Park.

Throughout the day, you will learn about the latest developments in data science research at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and beyond. Data science techniques can be applied to almost all domains and research areas. So make sure you're there to gain insight into the benefits of data science for your organisation. 

The UvA Data Science Centre, part of the University Library, is organising this day in collaboration with the Social and Behavioural Data Science Centre (SoBe DSC). 

Data science briefly explained 

Data science is a field that focuses on gaining insights and connections from data. You can purposefully use those insights to solve problems and issues in your organisation. 

Programme 

Morning – interactive in-person workshops 

09:00 - 12.00 (doors open at 08.30), followed by lunch afterwards 

The morning programme consists of 2 hands-on and interactive workshopson data science. Both workshops will be hosted in-person at Startup Village and are for UvA PhD students and employees only.  

 

Afternoon – pitch presentations and keynotes 

13.00-17.00, followed by networking and drinks afterwards 

Everyone is welcome to join the afternoon programme, which will kick off with an update from the UvA Data Science Centre and its members and an introduction into some of the key players within the data-science eco-system at UvA. This will then be followed by keynote presentations by Dr. Steven Scholte (University of Amsterdam) and Prof. dr. Anne Beaulieu (University of Groningen), both of which will focus on social and behavioural data science topics.
