In this seminar, Dr. Steve Pickering will discuss 3 different unpublished papers, on 3 fascinating topics!

1. London, we have a problem: Trust in police in England

In this paper, we find that trust in the police varies across England, and that trust is especially low among women in London. We examine why this is the case.

2. All the time in the world? The NHS, waiting lists, and trust

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is notably underfunded when compared with other European health care systems and as a result its performance has suffered. Yet levels of trust in it as an institution remain extremely high.

3. Ahead of the curve or left behind? The drivers of politics and disease

This paper finds that the types of car in your area can be used to determine not only the way people will vote, but also the levels of diseases. Citroëns and Mercedes are found to be at opposite ends of a health/ disease spectrum.
